The Scarlet Pimpernel, with book and lyrics by Nan Knighton and music by Frank Wildhorn, has a complicated history involving two major rewrites. The original production was mounted at the Minskoff Theatre in October 1997, Version 2.0 re-opened at the Minskoff in November 1998, and Version 3.0 opened at the Neil Simon Theatre in 1999.
